Obituary for Gary Graham

Gary Graham, age 69, of Manter, Kansas, died Thursday, December 18, 2014, at his home in Manter. He was born December 24, 1944 in Syracuse, Kansas, the son of Paul and May (Cott) Graham.

Gary was raised in Manter and attended Manter Schools. He worked for Milt Graber until he joined the United States Army. On December 27, 1970, he married Alberta (Bert) Dunivan. They later divorced. Gary also worked at the Co-op Elevator in Walsh, Colorado, and the Collingwood Grain Elevators in Johnson and Big Bow, and was the Manager in Manter beginning in 1974. He was also the City Manager for the City of Manter, and a jailer at the Stanton County Sheriff Department. On July 28, 1984 he married Pat Loyd. Gary was a volunteer EMT, fireman, and a member of the Sheriff Posse. Gary enjoyed playing Bingo.

He is survived by two step-sons, Marty Loyd of Amarillo Texas, Steve Dunivan of Amarillo, Texas; step-daugthers, Beverly Glasscock of Johnson, Kansas, Kim Simmons of Amarillo, Texas, Bobbie Payne of Richfield, Kansas, Vickie Schweizer of Johnson, Kansas; brother, Kenny Graham of Manter, Kansas; sisters, Phyllis Batterton of Eads, Colorado, Pauline Wilkerson of Manter, Kansas, Laura Carter of Ulysses, Kansas; granddaughter, Kindra Ashe; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; sister, Janice Brickman; and nephew, Robby Carter.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Manter, Kansas with Pastor Mary Courtney officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas with military graveside rites conducted by the Johnson VFW Post #3684. Family will received friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
