Obituary for Glenna Mae Beckett

Glenna Mae Beckett, age 97, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton, Kansas, where she had resided for the last two and a half years due to a back injury and failing health. She was born March 29, 1917 in Sawyer, Kansas, the daughter of John W. and Pearl (Crouse) Cromer.

Glenna graduated from high school in Greensburg, Kansas. She married Roy J. Beckett on September 20, 1935 in Greensburg. She was an oil painter, raised beautiful flowers, especially her dark red roses and like to garden. Glenna resided in Boise City, Oklahoma, Limon, Colorado, Ordway, Colorado, Tyrone, Oklahoma, Liberal, Kansas and Hugoton, Kansas. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hugoton, Senior Center and the Senior Center Band. She especially enjoyed playing in the kazoo band and the many trips and activities with the Senior Bunch. Glenna was a “happy go lucky” person and always looked on the bright side of life. She was deeply loved by her family and will be sorely missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Carole Monks and husband Jerry of Limon, Colorado; sons, Larry Beckett and wife Denise of Wiley, Colorado and Mike Beckett and wife Marissa of Balko, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

Glenna is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy J. Beckett; sons, Roy D. (Dink) Beckett, James (Jim) Beckett, Phillip Beckett; daughter, Linda Steele; grandson, Keith Beckett; two brothers, Frank and Bob; and one sister, Jeannie.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Hugoton Cemetery with Pastor Heath Kelley officiating. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
