Obituary for Erma Hubbell

Erma Hubbell, age 86, of Ulysses, Kansas died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born July 16, 1928 in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Harry Sr. and Celia (Borieson) Gibbs.

Erma grew up on a farm in Hodgeman County. She married Marvin Duane Hubbell on August 1, 1947 in Jetmore, Kansas. They moved to Ulysses in 1956. Erma was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother. She supported her children in all their endeavors. She enjoyed camping, sewing, was an accomplished cook and baker. She was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and KU Basketball teams. She enjoyed spending time with friends at the Grant County Senior Center and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Robert Hubbell and wife Maureen of Hutchinson, Kansas; daughters, Cindy Reeves and husband Tim, Glenda Neustrom and husband Mike, Debbie Hubbell, Joan Frydendall and husband Tim, Nancy Mangels and husband Ronnie all of Ulysses, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, Johnny Howard, David Bloesser, Tina Metcalf, Jamie Metcalf, Nicholas Metcalf, Eric Frydendall, Craig Frydendall, Chelsey Bellomy, Kenny Hubbell, Elizabeth Hubbell, Isaac Hubbell, Brady Mangels, and Brett Mangels; 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Lola Pitts and husband Vern of Kansas City, Missouri.

Erma is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Michael Duane Hubbell; and three brothers.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Janet Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grant County Senior Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
