Marriage: to Imogene K. Bush on November 19, 1949 at Garden City

Bill graduated from Garden City High School and entered the U.S. Army when he was 18 years old. He served through 5 campaigns in the European Theater during World War II and received 2 Purple Hearts and the Silver and Bronze Stars. After his discharge he was called up to train draftees at Fort Riley for the Korean Conflict. He returned to Garden City and was a bus driver for Trailways and worked as a Chemist for Shallow Water Oil Co. He moved to Arkansas and worked for Barry Asphalt and then moved to Liberal and worked as a Chemist for Panhandle Eastern Oil. After retiring he moved back to Garden City and he and his wife managed the Meadow Lark Trailer Park. Bill enjoyed camping, making candles and was a Past President of the Eagles Lodge. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son- Charles R. Long, Granddaughter- Misty Dawn Long & 2 Brothers- Leo Edgar Long & Robert L. Long.
