Obituary for Jeffery L. Porter

Jeffery L. Porter, 57 of Garden City died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born July 26, 1957 in Garden City the son of Rex Porter and Kathy (Zubeck) Porter.
A lifetime resident of Garden City, Jeffery attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School in 1976. Jeffery worked at Oswalt Manufacturing for more than 15 years. He later worked for Palmer Manufacturing for 6 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, remote control cars and model trains.
On April 30, 1975 he married Laura Clymer in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters Jessica & husband Keith Landgraf of Garden City and Sheena Deaton of Garden City; his Mother and Step-father Kathy & Larry Smith of Garden City; a brother Kenny Porter of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters Jana Rogers of Holcomb, Kansas and Nancy Porter of Garden City; three step-brothers Todd Voigt of SugarLand, Tx., Pete Voigt of Stockton, Ks., and Rod Voigt of Garden City; and six grandchildren Jarett Landgraf, Reegan Landgraf, Jace Landgraf, Maci Deaton, Quinton Wilks, & Kiera Wilks. Jeffery is preceded in death by his father Rex Porter and his
Step-mother Terry Porter.
A Celebration of Jeffery’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Moody Hall at the First Assembly of God in Garden City with Chaplain Doug Williams officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to the Jeffery L. Porter Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
