Obituary for Raymond R. Valencia

Raymond R. Valencia, 58 of Garden City died Friday, April 4, 2014 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born September 9, 1955 in Laramie, Wyoming the son of Martin & Lucy (Padilla) Valencia.
Raymond moved with his family to Manzanola, Colorado when he was a child. He grew up in Manzanola where he attended school and graduated from Manzanola High School. He later moved to Garden City in 1985 and has lived in Garden City since. Raymond worked as a mason and concrete worker. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, playing with his dogs, and watching western movies.
On May 10, 1986 he married Karen S. Orosco in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include five brothers Tomas & wife Sharon Valencia of Pueblo, Co, Leroy Valencia of La Junta, Co, Charlie Valencia of Manzanola, Co, Eddie Valencia of Manzanola, Co, and Floyd & wife Frances Valencia of Swink, Co; and two sisters Patsy & husband Pete Romero of Manzanola, Co & Delores & husband Lawrence Bustamante of Garden City, Ks.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. David Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the Raymond Valencia Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
