Obituary for Tommy Ray Crues

Tommy Ray Crues, 77 of Garden City died Friday, April 4, 2014 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on February 19, 1937 in Harrold, Texas.
Tommy grew up in Harrold, Texas where he attended school. He graduated from Harrold High School in 1955. Shortly after high school, Tommy worked for Lincoln Tank Co. On May 3, 1957 he married Reva Jo Kee in Electra, Texas. They moved to Ralls, Texas where Tommy began working as a machinist and lathe operator for Simmons Machine & Pump. They later moved to Garden City, Kansas in 1969 and have lived in Garden City since. While living in Garden City, Tommy became shop foreman at Simmons Machine & Pump. After 44 years, Tommy retired from Simmons in 2000. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Garden City; Buffalo Dunes Golf Course; the Elks Lodge; Sand & Sage Rifle Club; and the Kansas Water Well Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, dancing, and country music.
Survivors include his wife Reva Jo Crues of the home; a daughter Cathy & husband Craig Wheeler of Tyler, Tx; a son Mickey Crues of Holcomb, Ks; four grandchildren Jacob Wheeler, Aaron Wheeler, Allison Crues, & Matthew Crues; and a great granddaughter Adryanna Crues. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Alvin & Myrtra Crues; his Step-mother Inez Crues; and a brother.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City with Pastor Rick Durham & Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society or to the American Heart Association both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
